Congratulations go to West Dorset’s Poppy Elliman who, as part of the Swim England South West Under 16 Girls Water Polo Team, competed in Division 2 of the Inter-Regional Competition held on 8-9 July in Liverpool resulting in the team’s promotion to Division 1.

Over the weekend, the South West girls successfully won all of their matches and which culminated in a thrilling final match against a well-organised Ireland. The final score of South West 4 Ireland 3 came after a nail biting battle.  Coach Simon Tomlinson commented, “All members of the team played amazing water polo and most importantly they successfully played as a team. The team was led by Amy Berry from Cheltenham, with the vice-captain Lily-May Girvin from Exeter and most valued player awarded to Jasmine Coleman from Devonport.  All members of the team have great potential for the future and did the South West proud”. Good luck to the team in Division 1 next year!

Dorset swimmers Emanuele Celardo and Jacob O‘Hara from Seagulls and West Dorset’s George Green and Luke Wheeler were also selected for the South West’s Under 16s team, which finished fourth in the boys competition.
