SCHOOLS SWIMMING 2011-12

There are a number of changes for the Academic Year starting September 2011 that will affect both our region and our schedule. Dorset will be moving from Division 12 (South) competing against Hampshire and Sussex, to Division 5 (South West) where we will be competing against Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Gloucester, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Division 5 does not have a Regional Round, and times achieved at the Dorset Secondary Schools Team Relay Event will be taken into consideration along with the other Counties in Division 5. Dorset Secondary Schools Team Relay Gala will be held on Thursday 29 September 2011 at Purbeck LC; this is much earlier than in previous years and I hope your school will be able to join us.

Other known dates are as follows: Secondary Schools National Relay Finals - Saturday 26 November at The Quays, Southampton; Secondary Schools Inter Divisional Final for Individuals – 30 June / 1 July 2012 (venue tbc).

The other Counties in our Division select swimmers from ranked times; DSSA will consider this option for Dorset Schools at the DSSA AGM in September but, in the interim, swimmers who entered the Dorset Schools Championship in May 2011 and who wish to be considered for the finals in 2012 will be invited to submit their latest times immediately AFTER the Dorset County Championships in February 2012. Selection will then be made from those submitted times.

We are still awaiting details of ESSA Primary Schools Events these events and they will be on the DSSA website as soon as they are available.
